Knee Pain

Knee pain is one of the most common causes of pain for which a person seeks medical care or physical therapy. The knee is made of three joints which, along with its muscles and ligaments, work together to help us walk, run, squat, lift, and many other movements we perform throughout the day. Knee pain can be caused by an injury or it can develop more slowly from wear and tear or dysfunction somewhere above or below the knee. Common causes of knee pain include:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Meniscus injuries
  • Muscle/tendon strains
  • Ligament sprains
  • Joint stiffness
  • Bursitis
  • Cartilage lesions
